A barrel sauna fights the weather; a cabin sauna leaks heat through every wall. A cave sauna is wrapped in earth — the best insulator there is. It heats faster, holds temperature longer, uses less wood or power, and the domed vault rolls steam around the room instead of trapping it at the ceiling.

Three things get sold as an outdoor sauna in the UK. They are not the same purchase, and the differences are in heat, lifespan and what is included, not just the price.

If you want a sauna this year for the least outlay, a barrel sauna is the honest answer. FAQ
An underground sauna is a precast, insulated vault set into the ground and covered with earth, with the stove, benches and glazed entrance inside. Luxury Modules installs Revonia cave saunas across the UK as the official turnkey partner, from 4.5m² and £30,000 excl. VAT installed, with a 25-year structural warranty.
Both are available. Wood-burning stoves are hand-matched to the room volume; electric heaters suit sites where flues are impractical.
Smaller cave saunas often fall within permitted development. Where consent is needed we handle it end to end — see the planning guide.
Very little. The concrete vault does not rot, warp or need retreating like timber saunas; interior woodwork needs only the care of any quality sauna.
